The most crazy weekend was when the champions league final took place. It was an awesome cultural experience to see these people who care so much about soccer, cheering for their favorite teams. It was the weekend after our first week of classes and everyone in the program was settled in and excited to watch the big game. It was a great experience, especially since I went to Atletico Madrid’s stadium to watch it. We got to the stadium and the instant I stepped in I could feel the massive amounts of excitement, energy and pride. The atmosphere was incredible, nothing like what you see in America. The fans were going crazy, but in the 90th minute everything changed. The tying goal was scored, and the wind was taken from the sails of the Atlético fans. Then the game only went downhill from there. Even though Atletico did not win, there were people in the streets all over the city because Real Madrid were the victors. It was a win win situation, and I got to see some real sports fans celebrating a big win on the streets.
