The End of Verano Espanol
As my trip is coming to an end, I have taken some time to sit and think about all of the great experiences I have had the in the past 6 weeks. Spain has given me a great outlook on what it is like to live within another culture and country. I am very thankful for everything that has been planned and provided for us throughout this experience. After thinking about what was most special/important to me, I came to the conclusion that the trip to Candelario was my favorite. I am very glad this trip was towards the end of the program because it gave me the perfect escape from the bustling streets of Madrid. It really was a getaway, which refreshed me and gave me the motivation to finish my last two weeks of studying strong. I loved the fact that we stayed in such a unique little hotel. My favorite part was the view outside of my window. I slept with the window open every night and took a nap each day and let the breeze drift into the room. I felt like I was far far away from any sort of civilization because of the location of the town, which was very enjoyable for me. I enjoy the outdoors and I love to explore so this was the perfect place for me. As soon as I arrived I went for a nice long run throughout the town and discovered some back roads that led me through beautiful valleys and farms. Also, the restaurant in the hotel was very charming. They were very accommodating and the chef always asked us if we wanted more food and if we enjoyed everything that was prepared. It was nice to be around people that really wanted us to enjoy our stay and truly cared about how we were experiencing the town. If I were ever to come back to this part of the country, I would stay here again. Lastly, I really enjoyed the trip to the castle. The bus ride there gave us a great outlook on the surrounding towns. It was also exciting to see the oldest bullring in Spain. However, there was nothing better than coming back after a long day of travelling to a nice outdoor dinner at the hotel. Overall, the weekend was perfect and I am so happy I was able to experience with Rollins.
