What an incredible start to a summer adventure in Spain. Not only would I say it has been a busy few weeks, but it has also been filled with tons, and I mean tons, of Spanish (which is definitely a good thing!) While Madrid has so much to offer, including perfect daily siestas in Retiro Park and endless bocadillas from the San Anton market, there is so much more to be seen, and lucky enough it is all within a train ride. We had to opportunity to visit Sogovia, a small town about 30 minutes from Madrid and it was, by far, one of my favorite weekend excursions. Alcazar of Segovia, or Segovia Castle, is one of the most distinctive castle-palaces in Spain. It was originally used as a fortress and later was home to the royal family, only to be converted to a Royal Artillery College and military academy as of recent. Unfortunately, the pictures simply do not do this place justice, which is a great excuse for whoever is reading this to make this city your next travel destination!! We ended our day by trying “suckling pig” a traditional dish from the antique town. Wouldn’t say I recommend it, but definitely worth a try! Until next time my fellow earthlings…Viva la Espana!
