Hi everyone!
Greetings again from Madrid, Spain. As such a bustling and populous city, Madrid can be slightly overwhelming at times. It was for this very reason that I truly enjoyed our relaxing weekend trip to the small town of Candelario in the province of Salamanca. Candelario was so peaceful and quaint, with its flowing streams of mountain water and beautiful view of the countryside. Known primarily for its production of the Spanish sausage chorizo, Candelario is fairly secluded in the dry mountain air in order to preserve the meat for long periods of time. I enjoyed walking through the gorgeous mountains and was thrilled when the group visited the abandoned city of Granadilla. Granadilla was absolutely lovely as it contained a combination of both the scenic mountains and the glistening water from the surrounding lake. We climbed the stairs in the castle of Granadilla only to be amazed by the breathtaking view at the very top. I am so glad that we were allowed this opportunity to see a smaller and more pictuesque village that not everyone who visits Spain will necessarily experience. Overall, studying abroad in Spain has really been a wonderful experience, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about the culture, history, and language of Spain.
Pictured below is a sunset in Candelario and the visit to beautiful Granadilla.
Hasta Luego!
