Hola!
One of my favorite parts of the summer trip was the weekend visit to Candelario, a small town a few hours north of Madrid. The ambiance of the town is quaint and relaxing. I explored the entire town in just a few hours! My favorite sights were the view of the streets, such as Calle Mayor, and the view of the mountains from the playground. The streets had a very old feel to them, which was emphasized by the rare sight of people. The town felt abandoned! Looking at the mountains and the town from the field was very beautiful. The weather was cold, but refreshing, perfect for a hike! My sister and I went on an excursion following the river. I would’ve loved to have made it all the way up the mountain to the source of the water, but I wasn’t wearing the right shoes for hiking. I almost lost my shoe in the mud!
I am very happy that I not only experienced the city of Madrid but also the feeling of authentic small-town living in Candelario.
