When I had first planned on going to London, I knew that I would meet so many people, but not just other people like me, ones from all over the country and the word that all had different backgrounds than I have. I was prepared to meet them, but never expected to get so close to so many different people. I came into London with my friend Emma and assumed that the two of us would do everything together and develop our own friendships with some other students in the program. It became evident the first week that a lot of people in the program were there by themselves or with a small group of friends from their home school and were looking to make a lot more. I’m the type of person that’s content with just a few very close friends, but in London I made a group of friends with so many more people than I had expected. We were from all over the world. Mostly from the United States including Massachusetts, Texas, California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Minnesota, but one close friend was from Romania. It was a very interesting comparison seeing these students compared to mine from back home, and my friends from Rollins. Everyone had their own reasons for coming to London, but it made us closer knowing that we were all in it together. I think that my experiences provided me with a unique outlook on how to experience London on my own and with a group. We were all comfortable going and doing something on our own, but when we were together, we were invincible. Overall, the experience was made better by all the different type of people I became close with. The experiences we had together are something that I will never forget, and I am extremely grateful to all of the friends I gained for making so many great memories together. Lastly, I want to thank the city of London for making a stressful and shortened experience worthwhile.
