One aspect of US culture that I have grown very accustomed to while living here is a slow based lifestyle. One example of this includes people showing up late to events they were invited to. I personally enjoy to arrive to events on time or even early if possible, but this is an aspect of US culture I have found to be very prevalent even though I stray from the norm. Another example of US culture I have found very prominent in my time living here is the idea of the “American Dream”. People are driven to strive for goals and changes that may even seem impossible to reach. Since America was built on rebellion from another country, this could explain why we are so accustomed to strive for success. Our ancestors were eager for change and to create something new and successful, and because of this, it truly does run in our veins as Americans to be driven towards ideas or projects.
I think that if you were someone who was not from the US and came into our country you would be shocked by how hard working some of our citizens are. Though this may not be the case all the time, we were built for success and I think an outsider would not resonate as well with these ideas.
I think that observing the culture here within my home country can have a direct impact on how I view that of the culture found within the UK. I think that reflection time on these ideas will help me distinguish differences between the United States and the United Kingdom much more clearly.
