Throughout my time here in London, I’ve noticed a lot of things people do here that are very different that what we do in the U.S. One specific thing is the travel here in the UK. People tend to take a lot of public transportation instead of driving their cars. Walking or taking the tub or busses are more popular then driving cars. In the United Sates we tend to drive our cars instead of taking public transportation/walking. I have found it very frustrating to take the tub everywhere and walking from place to place. Of course, occasionally it is very nice but I am from Florida, so the weather here is very cold and rainy so it’s very different that what I’m used to at home. I don’t enjoy walking in the cold while its rainy just to get to the tub station that occasionally gets shut down or has delays. I have caught a cold from the rainy and cold weather here and its sucks. I’ve also found myself late to class from the tub station having delays and leaving me stuck on a tub with a bunch of crammed people. The tub station is just so unpredictable, and I think that’s the most annoying part. I am the kind of person who shows up to work or class at least 10 minutes early and having the tub be the only free way of transportation for me can be very frustrating. Saying all of this, I have learned that yes, it’s annoying, but it does get me places quickly. Yes, walking in the cold rainy weather has gotten me sick, but at least its forcing me to stay active and taught me to by warmer clothing. When the weather is beautiful, I love taking walks to relax myself and clear my mind which I never really found myself doing at home.
