This semester has passed halfway, I have been experiencing much culturally, which made me think about my life lessons. Since I have experienced general study abroad where I live away from home, it was easier for me to adjust my homesickness from my hometown. However, some new homesickness came into me, which I am missing my friends and professors at Rollins. Same as I have so many events here in London, they have so many events happening at college. I understand I choose to come here but sometimes, I feel that I am missing those special times and things happening at Rollins. This is something I want to call my cultural confrontation.
However, I have been interning for about a month and a half and I think the internship helps me a lot in making it like a home. People at the internship are open for me to explore cities and local events together. London is a huge city, they have a global society and cultures but experiencing with people from my internship makes a huge difference. It made me realize how much I feel here. I appreciate a lot that I get these opportunities to connect with local people at internships or through people from internships.
To get out of this U curve of cultural adjustment, I think exploring the cities and meeting local people to live in the culture is the best solution for me. In addition, calling friends and family to exchange their life updates helps me to understand how much I have been enjoying and appreciating these experiences.
