London has been a great learning experience so far. It has been refreshing and interesting living in a new place and meeting so many new people. As exciting as it has been sometimes you miss the familiarity and ease that comes with being in a place and around people you are familiar with. I am navigating a new space and finding my place in my environment and relationships. I am participating in an internship along with my classes, which has added to my experience. Working has allowed me to venture into and explore a new area as well as meet so many new people. This is my first internship during college and the cultural differences have added challenge to the experience. Something I have been learning to adjust to having less direction and support. When I am given a task I am just expected to get on with it. The difficulty has been when I am doing something for the first time and wanting extra instructions or reassurance. I am learning to trust myself and be confident in my capabilities and only ask for help when I really need it. This has been an adjustment but has also been pushing me to grow and be confident.
Another area of adjustment I am navigating is living with 5 other people. This is my first time sharing a space with 5 roommates and it can be overwhelming at times. I am used to having more personal space and quiet time in general. I am learning to adapt and embrace the situation as it is not forever. We are all navigating this new experience and so giving grace to myself and others has been really helpful. I am also trying to maximise on the opportunity to meet so many new and interesting people who I will now always have an experience in common with.
