Culture in the U.S. can be very different depending on where in the country you are. One aspect of U.S. culture that can be found is our belief in freedom and our rights. There is also a strong aspect of nationalism within our country. This can be seen in the holidays that we celebrate such as Fourth of July, as well as in the large quantity of items that we like to put the American flag on. However even the nationalism in our country can be different depending on where you are. The biggest divide in this nationalism can be seen between the north and south of America. What I find really interesting about this is that this divide has been there since the founding of America. Someone outside of U.S. culture may find this divide strange. They could also find our sense of patriotism excessive and over the top. This exercise helps remind me to be open to other cultures and beliefs. Especially because they may not be the same as ours.
