After many months of planning, today is finally the day I leave to study abroad in Japan! Going to Japan has always been a dream of mine, and to get the opportunity to be there for a semester has been pretty exciting for me.
This last month of August, I’ve been visiting a lot of my family members and spending more time at home, because I definitely know I will be homesick during my time abroad. This is my first time traveling outside of the country alone, and also the first time living on my own, so I’ve been having very conflicting emotions about this semester abroad in the time leading up to my travels.
Being a native to the Central Florida area, I’ve always enjoyed having the comforts of home and familiarity of my surroundings over the years, so it will be such a big change for me to live somewhere where I won’t know the language or how to get to places I’d like to go to. I know it will be a challenge, but overall I am excited to finally go to Japan after so many years of thinking about what I would do if I got the chance to go.
I look forward to having more detailed blog posts full of new experiences, pictures, and memories to share in the future!
