The first day of the field study started off absolutely fantastic with a great exploration of Taiwans most famous sites. Our day began exploring Taipei 101, the country’s tallest building and learning much of both the purposeful design and meaningful antidotes surrounding the building.
The day continued with exploring many of the more industrial sects of the city and taking a look at the historical housing for many of the WWII manufacturing eminent and housing that still exists in the city center. We then took a tour to the Presidential palace and national theatre and the monument for President Shen.
These ornate and fantastic structures encompassed many European, Chinese and Japanese architecture styles showcasing the evolution and changing cultures throughout the nations history. The day ended with exploring the home gardens of President Shen and a very cool visit of the street markets. This all was encompassed and made possible by learning the robust transit system throughout the capital, showcasing the effectiveness and scale of their fabulous transit system.
