I was mostly excited for Day #2 because we went to Mt. Yangming / Yangmingshan, which was where I used to live before I moved out to live at Yuanshan, a location near the Pineapple Cake store, where we made our pineapple cakes. So, my thoughts on this trip for the day were pretty satisfying, the views we had when going up the mountain through our tour bus and the walk on the mountain park were pleasing. The trip before going to Mt. Yangming was visiting the National Palace Museum, which I had already visited before this field study.
However, it was nice to hear our guide, Nicholas talk about the history of the Museum and the relics/treasures that the Museum had showcased inside, which all of them are the real deal and not a replica of it. There were other locations besides Mt. Yangming and the Museum like being at Xinbeitou and the Sulfur Mountain. I personally haven’t been to either of these location, but I have pass by Xinbeitou, with the Sulfur Mountains, I vaguely remember being here but still can’t fully recall. Both of locations were nice to walk and in Xinbeitou, I ate at a ramen place but got curry instead since during that time I haven’t eaten one in a while, it was pretty good too.
Lastly, we had dinner with an alumni of Rollins College, Sean, who was enjoyable to talk to. It was amazing to hear about someone who really enjoyed Taiwan to the point of wanting to live here. He also said some things regarding Taiwan that I was curious to do, like going to the east coast of Taiwan and his experience at both Rollins and Taiwan. There was also TJ who was another guest at the dinner, he was also nice to talk to, he has a street photography hobby and plays in a band which was pretty interesting to hear.
