Almost a month now into Aix-en-Provence.
The end of September and it’s time to write another 250 words.
France has been treating me very well. Last I left you, I had visited Paris, Champagne, La Ciota, and Nice. I also spent a day on the beautiful beaches of St. Tropez where the water is so warm and clear. It’s a bit further east along the Mediterranean. The further east you go along the Mediterranean the warmer and more tropical the water gets. We took quite a nice hike to get to the beach which started seemingly through someones back yard and about 2 miles later landed us on a secluded peninsula not too far from paradise.. Our hilly hike descended into this beautiful, fragile, and thin peninsula that rose up again into a sizable mountain that dropped back off into the sea.
The next weekend my friends and I rented a most lavish Air BnB in Cannes which only cost 52euro for 2 nights. It was similar to Nice but a little more low-key. It was well worth it for three days on the beach and 2 nights of feasting amongst good friends.
Most of my Fall break is planned. To Rome for 4 days, and subsequently Paris for the Pitchfork Music Festival. I hope to be able to stretch my money just thin enough to make later trips to Ireland, Berlin, Greece, and certain factors permitting: Istanbul, Morocco, Austria, Prague, & more.
While it remains indubitable that this time in France is of unique nature and I must make use of the accessibility it grants me to all of Europe’s beautiful cultures… I must also, try to create an equilibrium that allows myself to experience my wonderful immediate surroundings here in Aix. I glanced over the tourism map/guide to Aix tonight and was overwhelmed by my proximity to museums, botanical gardens, and historical sights amongst other enticing opportunities that are rated as some of the best in France.
Until next time.
