This past weekend, I went on a trip to IBIZA, Spain with my roommates. First we all flew from London Gatwick to Madrid, then from Madrid to Ibiza. The flight from Madrid to Ibiza was a small, fun-sized plane in which we boarded from walking outside. As we approached Ibiza, I saw sunny skies and crystal clear blue waters. The mountainous terrain background made for picturesque scenery. Once we landed, we quickly grabbed our bags and headed to our hotel to make the boat party in time. We then got our tickets and headed on the boat to explore the Mediterranean Sea surrounding Ibiza. I found out that the specific sea that is in Ibiza is called the Basaltic Sea. Our boat stopped near the coast and I got to jump into the clear blue waters. The water was warm and refreshing. I was so excited to be experiencing a new country and enjoyed every minute of it.
The following day, I woke up to clear skies and sunshine. My friend and I headed to grab breakfast while our other friends slept in. I caught the early morning sun, which reminded me so much of Florida. It made me miss Florida so much. I enjoyed the Ibiza sun and got some color thankfully. I had a nice Caprese pizza overlooking the ocean for Lunch. For dinner, we all went to get authentic Mexican food down the street from our hotel. Some of our friends from the boat met up with us there. Being in Ibiza exposed me to a different culture and way of life. The language barrier was challenging at times, and I found myself looking up Spanish words to communicate more effectively with locals. Having studied French in high school, I knew almost no Spanish. By the end of the trip, I naturally found myself saying hi, bye, thank you, and you’re welcome.
