I cannot believe that my time in Münster is already coming to an end! This past week has been the most rewarding week of the trip. We visited Reutlingen for a graduation ceremony as guests of honor. This is the city where the dual degree students will studying in. We also went to Freiburg to meet with Luisa; the previous Fulbright Scholar at Rollins College. In Freiburg we went on a guided tour of the city where we were told about historic landmarks and the history of the old city. The lady giving the tour was in traditional garbs and acted as if she from the middle ages. It was entertaining to say the least.
I feel that my German language skills have improved overall. A testament to this is for the time I sat down and read from a German newspaper. I was surprised at how much I could understand. I didn’t realize how much vocabulary and grammar I had learned in the past 3 ½ weeks. I am looking forward to going home to continue studying German and to share stories of my travels with friends and family.
Very good Tim it was nice to have met you in this program, I can now say that we are really good friends and I’m glad to have learned German with you. As German club president I am glad to have met with my German club Secretary. You are the John Kerry to my Obama. I’m glad to have eaten ice cream together, and to have done many cultural things with you.
It was so much easier learning the German language while being immersed in it. We were forced to learn it through talking and bartering each day. It was much more fun to learn this way than sitting in a class room for hours
