The China Art Museum
Finding the place was a struggle in itself. We started by taking the train line 10 out to line 8 where we began our journey to Peoples Park. Once we got above ground the park was beautiful. There were tons of people and we managed to find a nice looking art museum. At this point we thought we had arrived at the China Art Palace, however we were mistaken. We were actually at a Shanghai video museum. We later found out the museum we were looking had actually moved. Since shanghai is such a fast growing city, this is commonplace. We got back on the train and made our way to line 9, this took us straight to the China Art Palace. The stop was literally named after the museum. The structure is huge; when I first arrived at the China Art Palace. I was shocked at how big the actual structure was and what an amazing design! When you first entered the premise there were mountains of stairs leading to the base of the building. A large elevator was waiting to you to the top of the art center. There we found Chinese modern art as well as Chinese contemporary art.. My favorite section was one of their themed exhibitions that showcased many original Disney works. It walked you through a large area that showcased how Disney animators brought works to life. Shanghai is becoming much more populated with Disney items since Shanghai Disney is coming soon. The view from the top was spectacular as well. You could see the river mall as well as the Mercedes Benz stadium. What an incredible experience. I highly recommend it to any person who is interested in art and is looking for a good way to spend the day.
