Week 4
When I first came to KAPITO, along with other Rollins students that I barely knew, I didn’t think saying goodbye would seem so sad. When looking back, four weeks seemed like a long time. Taking class day by day, along with any other chores I had to do on a daily basis, seemed exhaustive. However, one thing, after all my work was done, that I could always count on, were the friend and bonds that I made. It can be so easy to forget the simple things in life. The ridiculous moments, the laughs, all the senseless conversations, the conversations that were in a combination of french, german, and english. Those are the moments you hate, but at the same time, those are the moments you miss when they are gone. I learned a lot at KAPITO, but in the end, I learned more from the Swiss kids, the Taiwanese kids, my German host mother, and my fellow Rollins peers. I left KAPITO with more than a certificate in the German language, I left with new friends, and memories that not everyone has the opportunity to make in life. I’ve had an opportunity that no one in my family has even had the opportunity to make. I feel like one seriously lucky, and overly blessed young woman.
