“We came, we froze, we conquered” pretty much sums up my weekend in Copenhagen, Denmark. My older sister is here visiting me in London so we decided to also take a trip to Copenhagen because we heard it was a must see place. My roommate had just got back from here and she said it was beautiful, but overwhelmingly cold. Minus the cold, this was the perfect time of year to visit because when we got off on our stop we immediately saw how much holiday spirit this little town has. Since they don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, there were Christmas lights and markets all over! The first night there my sister and I explored the local area, while drinking the best hot chocolate we’ve had in a long time. Just walking around left us in awe because it seemed as though we were on a set of a Christmas movie. This left us excited for the next two days we had here!
The next days were very eventful as well as we climbed numerous flights of stairs of Our Savior Church to overlook the city, saw the well-known The Little Mermaid statue, took a canal tour, visited more local markets, went to the oldest theme park-Tivoli Gardens, and much more! We enjoyed doing all of these things while there, however, the cold was brutal to say the least! I had five layers on and the cold was still unbearable. It snowed and rained while we were there, which was awesome, but not when you’re walking over 20,000 steps a day. Although it was freezing, Copenhagen was one of my favorite places I’ve been while abroad!
