As soon as I stepped foot into the Amsterdam airport I knew that it would be a great trip. I say this because the airport was already decked out in Christmas decorations, which makes any place feel homey, and it was only early November! However, back to the important stuff. Although I had seen pictures of the city and heard stories of others who had visited, I still was not quite prepared for the beauty and history the city has to offer. To really take it all in we found it necessary to take both the hop on hop off bus and canal tours. Although it may seem a little excessive because they both follow similar routes, they both provided amazing views of the city from different perspectives. Just a handful of notable places that were visited on these tours are the De Gooyer Windmill, Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the canals in general and the Amsterdam Cheese Museum (but frequent food stops were made throughout). Overall it was a great trip with no mishaps and the only regret would be not having the opportunity to visit the Anne Frank Museum, but there is always next time. The trip to Amsterdam was definitely one for the books.
