My birthday was this week!! Oh gosh did a lot happen. First, my best friend here, Tiffany, showed up at my house as two sets of flowers arrived from my family from home AND my friend from home, Aaron. She started screaming and singing to me “happy birthday” and put a crown and a “21” pin on me and gave me cupcakes. We then took the ferry to Manly Beach to go see Shelly Beach (of course!) and we stopped to get lunch. The funniest thing happened- the waitress came up to us and said I had to take my crown off because of a “crown incident” that had previously occurred. I was disappointed but the humour in the situation overrode that. Then we raced to meet up with my host parents (who I could not love more, they are truly my second family) who took Tiffany and I to dinner. They are such gorgeous people and I was so nervous that my 21st would not matter in Australia but they made it the most special time ever. On Friday, Tiffany had another birthday celebration for me- we went to Luna Park and then had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe with my Australian friends and then we sang karaoke all night at a random karaoke place. I will never forget those friends or my Australian 21st birthday. I am so grateful to have such wonderful people surrounding me here and I cannot believe it is almost time to part ways.
