Not only had I had the increíble (incredible) opportunity to study abroad a semester in New Zealand, but I am having another oportunidad (opportunity) to study abroad. I am going to actually be spending 5 full months in España, in Oviedo! This is truly a dream come true. Coming from a hispanic background, and not knowing the language was something I had always wanted to change but did not have the encouragement to do so. Once I took my first Spanish language course with Professor Lilienthal, I had decided I was going to go abroad and learn the language – the most fun and efficient way possible! Luckily, Rollins has probably the best study abroad program because once I decide that I want to go somewhere, you are pretty much going after your application is accepted. You really have mostly everything taken care of for you, maybe less work than going on campus actually.
I had the same packing list as I took to New Zealand, but I added a travel book this time, with maps. I was contemplating about bringing a pocket dictionary as well, but it is the 21st century and there are free offline apps that are much more convenient.
I truly had not processed that I was going to be in Spain for 5 months until I boarded my plane in Miami. I was surrounded by Spanish speakers, and I knew that the adventure had begun. No turning back.
¡Saludos!
