What a whirlwind my first two months were! I spent my third weekend in February in London exploring the city a bit. I visited Camden Lock Market (which became one of my favorite spots), as well as the Tower Bridge Exhibition, and I also met Matthew Perry after his new West End show, The End of Longing.
But the main event was from 26 February to 6 March- SPRING BREAK! This is what we looked forward to all semester, and my flatmates and I planned the perfect trip. From 26 February to 2 March, we were in the lovely Spanish city of Barcelona. This was probably my favorite destination I visited over the course of my semester. We saw everything from the Sagrada Familia, to Parc Guell, to Casa Batlló and Casa Mila, and we stayed right on La Rambla! We had tapas for every meal and we even took a cable car over the coast to see the entire city. It was a breathtaking experience and I hope to come back to this city as soon as possible.
Following Barcelona, we spent 2 March to 6 March in Mykonos, Greece. As fun and crazy as Barcelona was, Mykonos was so relaxing and an amazing getaway from real life. The only downside was that it wasn’t high tourist season so almost everything was closed. But we didn’t mind, we just wanted to lay on the beach and relax- and that we did! Mykonos also had the best food in Europe (in my opinion), which was a major plus- every single meal was phenomenal. We visited Paradise Beach and Ornos Beach, and we stayed right in Mykonos Chora- the main town center. This is also a place I really hope to return to- perhaps when it is more populated!
Spring break was by far one of the highlights of my semester. It’s so amazing how easy it is to travel around Europe once you’re there. Everything is so cheap and nothing is more than a two hour flight away!
