Do you want to know my first and foremost reason for coming to Japan? It is food and yes I confess my gluttony. Culture, people, travel and diverse academics follows. Being one who likes to cook, and eat of course, Japan did not fail to disappoint my taste buds. I owe it to my dad for my foodieness.
One interesting thing about the dorm life in Japan (called Seminar House here) is that there is a nice kitchen in every seminar house. The cafeteria on campus is nice, but since the campus is far away, most students cook most of their meals. Everyday, every meal the kitchen is filled with aroma of something new being cooked waiting to be eaten.
I learned how to make Okonomiyaki, a Japanese omelets made with pork, cabbage, egg and flour as basics, through my RA who was magnificently cooking it one day. I stared and asked if he could be my sensei and I am glad I asked.
In the next coming weeks, I learned how to make Yakisoba, Japanese curry, Omurice, and Makisushi. Please feel free to contact me should you feel curious.
My next post will follow the amazing adventures and random findings of restaurants that gave my olfactory system an overdrive. Spoiler – Ramen!
