The most lasting memory I will have leaving Germany are the different cultures I have met. Of course I have come to recognize the German culture but besides that my class consisted of Men from Spain, China, South Korea and Paraguay as well as women from Mexico, South Korea an Switzerland. Sounding like many cultures this is still just a list from the 12 classmates I had. Out side of class I met more people from Switzerland, Italy, France and so on. What I have realized traveling abroad is how much you learn about the cultures you are not in. I expected to go to Germany and learn purely about typical life there. What you don’t realize is how much being a foreigner is a common bond. It was easier to connect with all of these students because we shared the common bond of being foreign and trying to learn the native language in which we were in. I will never forget the bond I shared with others of different cultures, the conversations I had trying to understand them and most of all embracing that Germany was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have made friends from all over the world that I can now stay in touch with, to me that is invaluable.
