I have officially survived the first two weeks of classes here in New Zealand and almost a complete month out of the country and to be completely honest, its been one heck of a roller coaster ride. People weren’t kidding when they said the first few weeks were going to be the toughest. I’ve struggled a lot pretty early on into my journey. I feel like almost every day I have extreme highs and lows. The lows can vary from getting on the wrong bus and ending up in the middle of no where and being completely lost, melting my good tennis shoes because I put them too close to my space heater to dry, missing classes because I missed a bus, someone throwing their beer on me at a rugby game which completely ruined my new leather purse, to going without a phone for a week since it randomly decided to stop working. However, though all the craziness of theses past few weeks, I am constantly reminded by the beauty of this country how lucky I am to be here and experience this adventure. I keep having to remind myself that sometimes things that start off bad and make you want go give up and quit can turn out being the things that are the most rewarding and make us stronger.
I’ve found that staying super busy is key for me. Going out and searching for those amazing views that New Zealand has to offer like Tunnel beach and the summit of Harbour Cone are what I came here for and make everything so worth it. I am looking forward to even more incredible views and even better memories. I can’t know for sure what else might happen while I’m here, but for now all I know is that I’m along for the ride.
