I never though that would be going to China. It was only during my spring semester that I decided to go. I rushed to get all the paperwork done for the program before the deadline that was given to me passed. I could not loose the opportunity to go to the world’s second leading economy, especially as an International Business student. The way business is conducted is different; I’m thrilled to learn about it. China is the most exotic land I had planned on visiting. It is not western at all, and its customs and culture are totally different than the west. I’m nervous about the language barrier. Unlike my peers, I have never formally studied Chinese in any of its forms. This will be a huge challenge that I’m looking forward to taking on. With the help from my peers, I hope to learn faster than I would If I had stayed in the States.
As my departure approaches, I am ever more filled with thrill. I’m not sure what to expect while I’m there. I packed anti-food poisoning medicine and Tylenol just in case I get sick; which according to my peers, I will. I wonder what kind of people I will meet, and how close I will get to them. I wonder what places I would visit and discover (aside from the touristy stuff). My friend sends me pictures of the food he eats in China. It looks like one of the best things about going abroad. My mouth waters at the sight of it. With its natural monuments and historical background, and the uniqueness of this program this trip will definitely be one of the most memorable in my life.
Wish me luck! 🙂
