Well, folks, I’m 19 years old and I am about to complete a 30-hour trip from Orlando, Florida to Shanghai, China! Now listen, this is my FIRST time leaving the states! And how will I do it you may ask? … ALONE! Most people would pick somewhere easier for their first time traveling alone, but not I! I tend to go for the far out and extreme adventures! Anyways, Shanghai University of Economics and Finance here I come!
So in light of this 30 trip, I decided that I would state 15 facts about me and 15 things I expect to happen this semester. (15 + 15 = 30)!
Facts About Me:
- My real name is Prince
- I’m studying abroad in Shanghai, China (in case you wanted to know again)
- I love to tell people that I’m studying abroad in China
- I’m a second year lad attending Rollins College in Orlando, Florida and studying International Business
- I’m from a small town called Chipley in the panhandle of Florida (population: 3,500 people)
- I can speak English fluently, a decent amount of Spanish and Dutch, and soon Mandarin
- I’m an ENTJ
- I love to dance and go out with friends
- I’m most likely always eating or hungry
- I’m an aspiring photographer
- I’m obsessed with animals (my goal is to open a zoo)
- I have the worst luck and always have bizarre things happen to me
- I’m known at my college as the kid that got hypnotized on the first night of Orientation and danced on stage like Beyoncé
- I also twerked on stage that same night (I thought it was a dance competition for charity)
- I’m super terrified/excited for this semester abroad!
Expectations:
- Regret choosing to study abroad in China
- Call my family crying and beg to come home
- Get yelled at my family for being a baby
- Get weird/bad looks from the natives
- Get even worse looks when I try to speak Mandarin to them
- Struggle to learn mandarin
- Get completely lost in the city and have a panic attack
- See jaw-dropping sites
- Completely fill my camera roll with pictures
- Order something random and end up hating it
- Order something random and end up loving it
- Take a Karate class and fail (I’m trying to be the next Karate Kid)
- Feel super weird wearing a facial mask to breathe
- Go out and take advantage of every second
- End up loving my time in China and not want to return to the States
