Huh? Five? Where did my four go? And did I even really get to nine?
Everything here is backwards and I am already skipping a beat — I’ll chock it off as being usual for someone’s first week starting a new life in an unfamiliar society.
Last time I talked to myself about philosophy alone in my room in wide open Florida when no one else was home. But Japan is a communal society, and I am quickly being force fed the joys of relying on each other for the good of life.
This week I ask my friends from Rollins their initial thoughts on Japan and the Japanese — first impressions — it opens on a weird note and so it ends on a weird note.
Next time, as the other 352 international students here at Kansai Gaidai begin to settle in, I will round up more and more strange interviews — and convince a few Japanese students to share their opinions on us as well.
