Ciao!
Italy is one of my favorite countries in the entire world and I couldn’t be more excited to return to this vibrant jewel of Europe. Although I have traveled to Italy before with my family and have even stayed with an Italian family during the summer of my sophomore year of high school, the Eternal City will be an entirely new adventure for me.
Preparing for the trip itself has consisted of the constant struggle of stuffing my entire wardrobe into a suitcase, waltzing around the house to Italian opera, and dramatically expressing phrases such as, “Dov’è il telefono??” (where is the telephone) with as much Italian flare as possible.
My father’s side of the family is Italian (and even if you’re only a quarter Italian, the Italian heritage is really your one and only heritage according to your Italian grandmother) and we’ve always enjoyed trying out authentic Italian dishes (Calabrian) and experimenting with true Italian espresso (sorry starbucks). However, I know my cooking skills are not quite as refined as the culinary masters in Rome and I am looking forward to sampling as many dishes as possible while happily gaining 20 pounds.
I hope through this blog I will able to give a bit of insight about my travels and experiences in Rome, including the food, fashion, art, people, GELATO, and history of this beautiful city.
Until then, arrivederci America!
