Why Living in a different Country has been so good for my Health
So I have been living in Japan for almost four months and unfortunately my fall semester is coming to a close! It all went by so fast. I only have about 4 more weeks of school and that’s including finals. Within these past four months so much has happened and so much about me as a person has changed, specifically my health. Not just my physical healthy but my mental and spiritual health as well. Since coming to Japan I have lost a healthy 17 lbs. thanks to how well I have been eating and because of the four miles I have to bike to get to school every morning and the four miles I have to do to get home. There also is this annoyingly massive freaking hill I have to go up every morning, biggest pain in the butt (literally) I have come across. But because of all this random healthy stuff just being super imposed into my life I started adding more and more healthy habits, like actually regularly ‘working out’. I am sorry I still don’t understand the appeal of running but maybe one day. As far as my mental health, I have a lot more confidence going to places by myself and speaking in Japanese is finally becoming second nature. Back home in America I was definitely more independent in the sense that I had my own car, had a job and so on but I lacked a certain personal confidence. I feel that confidence has definitely appeared and grows every day that I am here. I am making more and more choices based on my own interests rather than just always going with the flow. My ability to plan and balance my finances has also improved a great deal as well. I am also thinking about my future a lot more. Over all this trip has really help me understand a lot about myself. There is still much for me to improve and work on of course. However, I feel like I have a better understanding of where I am and where I want to go in the future!
Thanks again everyone!
