I grew up watching classic movies with my dad – Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, etc. Not only are these movies amazing, but their movie scores (soundtracks) are also amazing! This past week I got to go to see the London Philharmonia Orchestra perform the best of John Williams’ soundtracks at Royal Albert Hall! First of all, Royal Albert Hall is beautiful. It has a very regal feel and is lavishly decorated. I also grew up playing many different instruments in band (primarily drums) and I have a great appreciation for music. And where else to see some of the best orchestras play some of your favorite music but in London! My flatmate and I were lucky enough to get seats right that were perfectly centered to see the orchestra perform. There were people from all ages there excited to here the tunes they grew up with played by such an amazing orchestra. Needless to say it was amazing. The orchestra (along with he help of the introducer/commentator who was hilarious) took us on a journey through each of our favorite movies that we hold so dearly in our hearts. Not going to lie I almost cried (or maybe I did shed a tear). They played the soundtracks from Superman, Fiddler on the Roof, Jaws, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, and yes Star Wars. Everyone in the hall was feeling nostalgic by the end of the concert. Going to this orchestra also made me realize how much I miss music too. I feel so lucky that I got to go!
