Well, after 6 months, I am finally home! After my time in China, I went to Amsterdam for three weeks to spend the holidays and following that I stayed a week in London. Leaving China was extremely difficult. I ended up having tons of flight problems and had to spend a night in the airport. Anyways, I then finally made it to Amsterdam, Netherlands! Being here was a lot more difficult than I thought. The amount of times I would say things in Chinese to random people was unbelievable. Even talking to my family was extremely difficult. It was so weird trying to pick up Dutch, which I can speak a little of, after speaking Chinese. I found myself saying things in Chinese first, and then in English or Dutch. By the time I got to London, things were okay. I did however get a little too excited going to China town.
Now, here I am! Back in the sunshine state! Being back in America feels really strange. I’m extremely nervous about starting back at Rollins but I’ll make the best of it. I also really excited to start learning more Chinese!
I also noticed that my future me post never posted! To sum it up, I managed to completely everything I hoped to do last semester. I am extremely impressed at myself with how much Chinese I learned. At the end of the semester we had to take a placement test to see if we were ready for the next level. For the 100 level class, I had to get a 10-15. I managed to get a 25 without trying! It wasn’t worth a grade and I was really busy studying so I took my test in like 30 minutes. It should’ve taken over an hour.
