I believe that everyone sees the world a little differently. Your outlook in life is derived from all the experiences that you have had throughout your years. Coming from a very free-range and accepting childhood, my outlook on the world is wildly different from someone who was brought up in a sheltered and closed minded environment. The other factors that influence your view of the world are derived from the society that you are accustomed to. For example, a US citizen like myself who is accustomed to the presence of guns in my home sees no problem with the matter. However, I have read that in New Zealand even the police do not carry a gun on their hip. This leads me to believe that a lot of Kiwis may find it appalling that my father has multiple in our home, whereas I never thought twice about it. In my journey abroad I think that my experience will be enhanced by my background because of my desire to learn about other people and different ways of life. The New Zealand lifestyle seems to be fairly similar to that of the United States, which will make it easier for me to blend in and immerse myself as soon as I arrive.
