One of my favorite cultural activities that I went on during the first three weeks of the program was touring the Real Madrid soccer stadium, Santiago Bernabeu. This was an awesome experience for me because my whole life I was never really a big fan of soccer, but whenever the topic came up I would always hear “Real Madrid” or “Cristiano Ronaldo” and just know that they were the best of the best. Being able to see the stadium and locker room of the best club soccer team in the world was mind blowing. I was able to see all of the Champions League and La Liga trophies they have won, as well as all the Golden Boot’s and FIFA Ballon d’Or awards that are given to the best player in the world. Lastly, I was able to watch a video during the tour that showed what it meant to play for Real Madrid. The players are so passionate about the culture and tradition that comes with playing for Real Madrid. So many kids grow up dreaming to play for Real Madrid and it’s so easy to see why after seeing this stadium in person! This is definitely something I would recommend seeing to anyone who is in Madrid!
