I have the excuse of being in DC to write a blog post about what happened on the other side of the States. I also have the responsibility as an intern at the Columbus Dispatch to refrain from sharing my political opinion, in the name of preserving my publication’s credibility. The two blog posts I wrote about the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and the National Rifle Association dealt with my impressions of the people representing those organizations. Both groups struck me as understandably partisan (toward their cause) and having equally coherent views. I also am aware some journalists do write opinion pieces (which seems to break the rule I mentioned earlier), but as I lack the experience to write an unbiased opinion piece (as if such a thing could exist), I thought it best to stick to the facts: People died.
