I went to Vietnam with Oscar and Arturo. We stayed in an air bnb in Hanoi the capital of Vietnam. The people there are extremely nice yet they live in an underdeveloped country. There are many people on the streets selling things and the traffic is crazy. There are many motorcycles and the streets were a little dirty. Despite this hectic scene we got to make the most of it. We went to the war museum in Hanoi which was full of interesting facts. We also went to a prison where they held John McCain hostage for several years. We also tried many Vietnamese dishes which were delicious. This country was the cheapest I have ever been in my life. You could get a full meal with drinks and it would only cost you around $1us. We went to historical sites such as churches and war memorials. There was a beautiful lake we were staying really close by. It had a red bridge that you could walk through and reach a zen monastery. This monastery had beautiful bonsais in the middle of the lake. We also got on a bicycle taxi which was quite a thrilling experience. I thought we were going to crash at least 5 times. There were motorcycles and cars coming from all sides.
We went on a day trip to a place called Halong Bay. We got there by bus and it took us 3 hours. This place is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. It was named an UNESCO World Heritage site. This place is on the coast and it is full of huge chunks of rocks in the middle of the water. They look like mountain islands and seeing them was quite impressive. We had good luck with the weather because it was a beautiful day. We went on a boat and got to kayak around the mountain islands. It was a truly a moving experience. We also go to go inside a cave which was beautifully illuminated. It was completely worth waiting 3 hours on a bus to get there. I recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Vietnam.
