Even though it is a little scary to go to a country I don’t know the country’s spoken language full I know it will be a great experience. I wanted to go abroad to experience another culture, meet new people and step out of my comfort zone. Which will give me the opportunity to learn about a culture and people of Argentina and to become fluent/conversational in Spanish. I wanted to go somewhere that would challenge me and a place that not a lot of people chose to go. The process preparing for my departure was a bit stressful. I had a lot to do in a short amount of time and making sure that I got all the things that I needed for these 5 months. From trying to decide which clothes to bring, to ensure that I didn’t over pack, what I should buy here verses when I get there and trying to get a background check done on myself. It was definitely a roller coaster process and I think necessary, so that I know what to do and what not to do the next time that I travel abroad.

I have gone abroad before but never in south America, always to Europe or the Caribbean and never longer than a month. I also traveled with people on those previous experience. But for this trip I will be traveling by myself with no safety net of people and this is also a part of the reason I chose to go to Argentina. I think that this experience will be different from my other experiences in what I get out of being abroad. The other times that I went abroad were for either vacation or service work and I was able to experience the food and art of other cultures. On this experience abroad, it will be more than the others. I will not only have the opportunity to experience the amazing culture and food of Argentina. I will also be able to improve my fluency in Spanish, meet people who have a different perspective of the world. I want to use this experience abroad in Argentina to allow myself to learn and grow not only in my knowledge of Argentina but of myself.

I am so excited to go aboard and can’t wait to embark on this Journey.

The time has come for me to go abroad in Argentina, I thought I had more time and then it’s the 21stand I am packing at 1am in the morning.
