So far, I have been loving London more than I ever imagined I would, thanks to my interesting classes, exciting internship, and awesome new friends. At first, I was really nervous to go to a different country knowing barely anyone, but it ended up being the biggest blessing in disguise. Going random with my roommates resulted in becoming incredibly close with 3 amazing girls that I definitely will remain friends with after the trip. We are only a month in and already making plans to see each other over spring break. I wish I could go back and reassure myself that I was going to be so grateful for the friends I’ve made.

My internship is luckily another pleasant surprise. I was really nervous during my first week that I was going to mess up or they were going to expect too much of me, but it has been the perfect balance of challenging and not too overwhelming. Interestingly enough, I’ve discovered some interests that I did not even know I had until I was able to try different things out at work. For example, I always knew I was very interested in fashion but I had no idea I was interested in art until I was able to try it out at work. In hindsight, it seems obvious that that would be an interest of mine since fashion is a form of art, but I never had an opportunity to actually try and I always assumed I would be bad at it. Thankfully, during work I was able to learn graphic design, and I immediately felt relieved I had found a creative outlet that works for me and I’ve made tons of creations since. My coworkers and supervisor have given me the confidence to pursue these interests in and out of work.

Although I still have two months here, my first month flew by way faster than I ever would have expected and I am hoping time slows down for the rest of my time here. After reflecting on my first month, I have realized how much I have gotten out of this experience and how much I have learned so far and I cannot wait to see what these next two months hold.

One month down, two to go, and I’m already sad about leaving.
