What can I say? I think I found my retirement city. Barcelona is one of the most beautiful, vibrant, and diverse places I’ve been to. From the moment I stepped outside of the airport and saw what seemed like a European version to New York City, I was blown away. Don’t get me wrong when I say this, but although Oviedo has a beautiful landscape, I started to miss the ‘big’ city vibe.

In 4 short days, I was able to see a lot of tourist attractions. Thanks to my friends who knew the area pretty well, we were able to get around Barcelona easily! Although my feet almost fell off by the end of my trip, everything was SO worth it. The first stop we made was to La Sagrada Familia, which was breathtaking. Unfortunately, I never got to go inside because tickets sold out pretty quickly. The plus side is that the exterior was still really beautiful. The next place we saw was Hospital de La Santa Creu i Sant Pau. I know a lot of people don’t know much about it, but it is one of the finest examples of Catalan Gothic architecture. Yeah, I’m not an architect at all neither do I know what that means, but damn, this place takes beautiful to another level. After spending a good while going from building to building, we decided to head to la Barceloneta, which is a really nice beach. My friend and I grabbed pizza and walked along the shore for an hour or so. A few other places we saw were Casa Batlló, La Catedral, and Turó de la Rovira, just to name a few. Apart from eating at a famous tapas restaurant and indulging ourselves in sangria and ice cream every minute, it was truly a wonderful trip.

Although I am 99% convinced that I gained a solid 3 pounds in Barcelona and I could not feel my feet by the end, I am so glad I was able to go. I traveled to Málaga in January, which was also a nice experience, but I don’t think I’ve been anywhere that has quite surpassed Barcelona. Well, we’ll see… In 3 weeks, my mom and my aunt come for Semana Santa aka Spring Break. We’ll travel to Madrid, Toledo, Segovia & Portugal. I’m excited to tell you guys all about it, but for now, hasta lueggggooooo!

About two weeks ago, I traveled to Barcelona where I met up with 3 friends from Mexico who are studying abroad there.
