It was 5.5 months. While I still have about 2 months left in the UK, between the time prepping for exams and actually taking them, it really doesn’t feel like much time at all. Knowing that I’ll only be here 2 months longer is a bittersweet feeling. Obviously I miss my friends, family and readily accessible white cheddar Cheez-Its, but just within the last two weeks I’ve become really accustomed and comfortable with my life here. Besides feeling confident in my classes, I have a solid routine down for during the week, a great friend group, and new pass times. I guess the novelty of being abroad has worn off and at this point it’s just life. I’m sorry to say that mine is not the most exciting and for this reason I feel as if I have less to say than in the past. I guess a pretty typical day includes breakfast, studying, going to the grocery store, and cooking some sort of meal with my flatmates. On days where I don’t have as much work to do or just need a break from studying, I typically go wonder around town with some friends. Aimlessly walking the city is my favorite thing to do in London is such a large city and each neighborhood has its own unique vibe to it. We like to explore these different areas of the city, try a restaurant or pub in the area, window shop the boutique stores. There is always something going on. Something to see and be part of. In fact, two days ago during a stroll through Westminister, I somehow ended up in the middle of Brexit rally. People holding signs reading “I know what I voted for” and “Leave Means Leave” flooded the streets. Such a rally was much less rowdy than I would have expected it to be. It felt more like a parade than a political uprising. While Brexit remains a mess here in the UK and I still do not know what to think of referendum myself, it is definitely a unique experience to be living London during such a turning point in history for the UK. Will the UK leave the EU by time we return home to states? We’ll just have to wait and see.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
When I started this experience, I remember thinking all about how much time I had. It was 5.5 months.
