(Many Adventures in Bavaria!)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/letters\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_1324-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17859 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/letters\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_1324-300x225-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hiking in the Alps\u2014what a picturesque phrase. But now I can say that I\u2019ve been hiking twice and counting! The first adventure allowed me the chance to wear a t-shirt while there was snow on the ground\u2014a world away from snowless, peakless Florida. These outings were incredible experiences which allowed me to get away from the city to see the beauty of the Germany county-side. But I have been enjoying my time in the city as well. Excursions to the English Garden have produced sun-kissed skin and good temperament. Picnics on the green are truly dreamlike. A bond fire event with s\u2019mores in the garden brought the comforts of home while providing the beautiful backdrop of German Spring.<\/p>\n<p>On May 1st, there was a musical festival in Munich\u2019s city center, Marienplatz. Although it was raining, I had a great time, grooving out to Balkan beats and Dutch Ska. The dread-lock bearing lead singer of one of the bands even did some crowd participation\u2014the audience was encouraged to pump their umbrellas up and down and then bounce \u201cnach links\u2026nach rechts!\u201d (\u201cto the left\u2026to the right!\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m beginning to settle into classes for the official Summer Semester here in Munich. The courses include an advanced intensive German class, German Drama and Theater, International Communications, Methods of Music, and Reception of Jazz\u2014all in German! American and German classmates alike challenge me and encourage me through this new experience. I recently got the privilege of seeing a modern theater piece with my German Drama class. But that won\u2019t be the only time. Every few weeks, we are to watch a theatrical performance and write a critic on it\u2014an assignment which fits my artsy interests. I\u2019m continuing to meet more and more people here, and my confidence level is rising every week.
