Whether this is true or not is up for debate. What we do know is that Berlin did indeed have some considerable defenses against air raids throughout the war. The most prominent of these were the flak towers. Massive structures, these towers were impressive with how large a concrete structure they were, standing out against the surrounding neighborhoods. Just looking at them, you can tell they were meant for defensive purposes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/letters\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_0159.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-17819 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/letters\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_0159.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"809\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/letters\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_0159.jpg 540w, https:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/letters\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_0159-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>They weren&#8217;t they only measures Berlin took against air raids, however. Most of the work was done by crews consisting of citizens, a few soldiers, and POWs. Their line of defense for the city consisted of \u00a0radar equipemtn, searchlights, and antiaircraft guns.
