{"id":203,"date":"2014-07-09T11:17:04","date_gmt":"2014-07-09T15:17:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/social.rollins.edu\/wpsites\/letters\/?p=203"},"modified":"2019-07-29T21:17:45","modified_gmt":"2019-07-29T21:17:45","slug":"bargains-at-the-open-air-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/letters\/2014\/07\/09\/bargains-at-the-open-air-market\/","title":{"rendered":"Bargains at the open-air market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was raining capfuls (not buckets) for the second day in a row this Wednesday morning. \u00a0That wasn&#8217;t going to keep me from going to the open air market on the cobblestoned cathedral square of the St.-Paulus-Dom. \u00a0It did mean that I stopped at the cafe on the edge of the square of a latte and read all of the\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">S\u00fcddeutsche Zeitung<\/span>\u00a0first. \u00a0The newspaper is full of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the latest news about the German double agent who has been selling documents to the CIA<\/li>\n<li>the huge jousting tournament in Schaffhausen \u00a0starting soon (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.allerheiligen.ch\/de\/aktuell\/ritterspiele-live\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.allerheiligen.ch\/de\/aktuell\/ritterspiele-live<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>the contest Switzerland has launched to find a new national anthem (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.swissworld.org\/en\/culture\/swissness\/switzerland_and_its_anthems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.swissworld.org\/en\/culture\/swissness\/switzerland_and_its_anthems\/<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But then it was time to take a look at what the market was offering this fine, soggy day.
