{"id":4129,"date":"2016-03-01T04:53:44","date_gmt":"2016-03-01T09:53:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/social.rollins.edu\/wpsites\/letters\/?p=4129"},"modified":"2019-07-22T15:38:37","modified_gmt":"2019-07-22T15:38:37","slug":"kobe-beef-the-chinese-new-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/letters\/2016\/03\/01\/kobe-beef-the-chinese-new-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Kobe Beef &#038; the Chinese New Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since we had a national holiday that resulted in classes being canceled, a group of us went to Kobe for the day. &nbsp;While most of the group was excited for Chinese New Year, I was more excited for the Kobe beef.<\/p>\n<p>We made it to Kobe in about an hour, so we made our way to the restaurant we planned to eat at in order to put our names on the list. &nbsp;We probably should have made a reservation, but we live and we learn.<\/p>\n<p>While a group of us stayed behind to wait for a table (spoiler warning: &nbsp;it took a few hours). &nbsp;On our exploration, we found a small shrine and a large department store. &nbsp;The department store had multiple displays of all kinds of Valentine&#8217;s Day chocolates.<\/p>\n<p>After a long wait, we headed back to the restaurant to try the infamous Kobe beef. &nbsp;It was served with a number of other side dishes, including salad, soup, and vegetables. &nbsp;When people say that Kobe beef melts in your mouth, they weren&#8217;t kidding. &nbsp;It was definitely worth the wait.<\/p>\n<p>After lunch, we made our way into Chinatown. &nbsp;Chinatown lined with all kinds of food booths and small shops filled with various Chinese goods. &nbsp;Toward the center of the main street, there was a stage where there were various performances, including music performances and a dragon dance. &nbsp;After a long day of walking, we made our way to the train station, only to find a lit up anchor on the side of a mountain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since we had a national holiday that resulted in classes being canceled, a group of us went to Kobe for the day. &nbsp;While most of the group was excited for Chinese New Year, I was more excited for the Kobe beef.
