After weeks of tracking, the long-awaited package officially arrived at my front door. I could not contain my excitement; I ripped open the seal and shook the envelope to uncover its contents. I grasped my passport and flipped frantically through the pages to get a first glimpse of my student visa. The final ingredient to study abroad was finally in my hand. My excitement turned into restlessness as I realized that my flight to the United Kingdom was still a week away. After months of planning, I just had to wait a little bit longer to officially start my CAPA semester in London<\/a>.<\/p>\n

My name is Stephanie Garcia, and I am a communication studies major and junior at Rollins. This spring, I will be interning at The Independent<\/em> <\/a>and living in Maida Vale, London. I will also be blogging for Letters to America <\/a>and keeping you posted on my experiences abroad. Being from New York, I am thrilled to explore another global city that is filled with culture and history. I have never been to Europe or lived on my own before\u2014so this experience will help me grow in more ways than one.<\/p>\n

I have been an anglophile for as long as I can remember; everything from England\u2019s noteworthy monarchs and passion for theater to its stunning architecture and rich literature fascinates me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
