It spans over both Argentina and Brazil, but most of the falls are on the Argentina side.

On our way to Iguazú we stopped at the ruins of San Ignacio which was once a Jesuit Monastery but is now taken over by forest. It was a pretty rainy day but nevertheless, we tried to enjoy every minute of the experience. With little sleep and a few more hours to our hotel in Iguazú, everyone just wanted to get back on the bus and get ready for the next day of adventure.

Saturday was the day. We first went on a safari ride through the forest of the national park until we reached the Iguazú river. We then boarded a boat to get up close and personal with las Cataratas. Let me tell you, this was the most fun experience ever! The waterfalls are so majestic and overwhelmingly beautiful, pictures do not do them justice. The expanse of these falls was incredible. We were able to go under the waterfalls a total of 4 times! We were completely soaked from head to toe. Good thing they gave us waterproof bags for out things. I took a video right under the falls. The water was so powerful like a torrential downpour. It was the most incredible experience of my life so far. I was shaking from all of the adrenaline (and cold water!).

We got to walk on the “paseo inferior” which is on the lower level of the falls and amazing for photographs and then onto the “paseo superior” which gave amazing views of all of the waterfalls in the distance. I felt so blessed and at peace just admiring all of the beauty. We then boarded a train towards “La Garganta del Diablo”. It was only when I got there that I realised why they call it that. It was basically a whole in the river where water gushes and creates a mist that wets you even from far away. It was absolutely amazing. I got drenched again at this point, but it was worth it to admire this natural wonder.

I really want to go back again sometime. It’s one of those places that you feel lucky to have experienced. One of the most magnificent natural wonders, preserved and meant to be admired for years to come. Take a look at some of my pictures below! 🙂

Next up on my adventures in Argentina: El Calafate..I’m going to see a glacier ya’ll!!

Jumping for joy at San Ignacio Ruins

Rainbows for days!

More rainbows

Absolutely Beautiful

La Garganta del Diablo

Admiring the beauty of Las Cataratas

Iguazú!!

I got back yesterday from one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. The almost 20 hour bus ride was worth it.
