The idea of being able to be surrounded by another culture and being able to experience living in a completely different situation intrigued me. After completing the 3 weeks abroad in Costa Rica with the Rollins program, I knew I wanted to pursue a longer time abroad. Living with a family especially added to the entire experience. Being able to physically be with the locals, experiencing their culture, food, and their day-to-day life truly creates a genuine experience. I also really want to improve my Spanish and after learning a lot in just 3 weeks in Costa Rica, I hope to become almost fluent by the end of 5 months.

Finally comes the time to get ready to leave for 5 months! After almost 3 hours in the Boston Spanish consulate, I obtained my student visa after panicking for weeks that I wouldn’t get an appointment anywhere, but it all worked out! Visa, passport, and some euros in hand, I’m ready to venture off to Spain! Goodbyes are extremely difficult but I know the time will be over before I know it. Now time for a full days’ worth of travel and the beginning of a new adventure!

Since the beginning of college I always hoped that I would get the chance to study abroad.
