Now, I’m not sure why they have National Holiday, but I do know that it’s a week of no work (for the most part) and no school. So for me, it’s like fall break.
For national holiday, three friends and I decided to go to Hainan, China’s largest, most southern island. We decided on Hainan because it’s referred to as China’s most beautiful island and because it was fairly inexpensive to go. Also, as a Floridian living in a massive metropolitan city for so long, I was longing for some fun in the sun.
Our trip began on Thursday night because we wanted to get around the large crowds of travelers and get cheaper tickets. So we hopped on flight around 10 p.m. that ended up being delayed until 4 a.m. and headed to Haikou in Hainan. We arrived in Haikou around 7 a.m. on Friday and headed to a hostel to get a quick nap before we started our day.
Later that day, we headed to Mission Hills Resort. Mission Hills Resort is known worldwide because it has 168 hot and cold mineral springs. Not only were the springs beautiful, but they were extremely relaxing! The springs were based on ancient Chinese medicine so they had different essential oils,
aromas, and were designed in different ways. These springs had properties that supposedly did things such as promote wealth, increase blood circulation, stimulate inspiration and imagination, and find against major illnesses.
One of the more interesting springs were the Ying and Yang springs. These two springs were next to each other and one had freezing cold water and the other had hot water. According to the directions, we had to first sit and relax in the freezing Ying spring and then after a bit we could go and sit in the warm Yang spring and this would help put our body in balance.
On top of the springs, we also got access to the water park. The water park had slides, a lazy river, floating trampolines, and some other water things that I don’t know the names of.
The best part about this park is that we did this all at the low price of 150 RMB ($22.50 US)!! Side note: if you ever decide to go here, be prepared to see lots of men in speedos.

ALSO SUPA SORRY THAT I CANNOT POST PICS!! It’s never worked here but atkeast now I can out blogs!

All over China, National Holiday is celebrated from October 1-7 (Saturday through Sunday).
